Sorry about the massive pics lately! Couldn't find a smaller one.
What we have here is vintage Croz - deep velvety undertones, a solid cultivar of songwriting expertise, a lively, curious nose and some endearingly poignant notes along the way. He’s matured really well!
At 37 minutes it wouldn’t be an onerous listen even if it had been terrible, which it isn’t.
There are two covers, “River Rise” – Michael McDonald and “For Free” – Joni Mitchell, and one song co-written with Donald Fagen who also plays the keys on “Rodriguez for a Night” (not Sixto, I’m sure). He has once again collaborated with his son, James Raymond, who produced the album.
Very funky … the Rodriguez one - not unexpectedly! - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2s4g9PhYthU
The dreamy "The Other Side Of Midnight" - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7guZVJFjtJc
This one stood out, for me … quintessential Crosby IMHO …
On a second listen and it's still working.
