Seaspiracy - doco...
#1
[Image: 220px-Seaspiracy_2021_Film_poster.png]

just wondering if anyone has seen it but not posted it?????
one of my step-daughters recommended it last week..
also Paul McCartney has been praising it on his website/interviews and his FB page...

really just wondering if it is just part of the Greenpeace propoganda machine or a well constructed scientific based doco?

I have. His approach is somewhat scattershot – leaps about all over the place, but someone, I can’t remember who, once told me that good observation is good science and there is no denying what you see and hear, even if it’s a bit unfocused and not in context 100% of the time.

We are over-consuming on every single front (I’m using the royal ‘we’ btw – I’m as much at fault as anyone!) – there is no need for such largescale destruction (which we do on terra firma as well and which is a whole ‘nother can of worms) but we’re on a hamster wheel and can’t get off – too many people to feed. The massive fishing trawlers are indiscriminate death machines, no question, and what they are doing simply can't be sustainable indefinitely - not possible.

Of course the movie has been made for maximum effect, and critical thinking is an imperative whenever there is sensationalism of any description (which there is, every day), but if this film wakes people up a bit and gets us questioning, that’s a good thing as far as I’m concerned, and so is Greenpeace. I take it you have no time for Greenpeace so we will differ on that subject. The way I see it, we have got a few things terribly wrong, sometimes through our ignorance, other times through arrogance and greed, which history bears out, and we need to change tack - pronto. There are good things happening (not fast enough), in pockets - reversals in ecological disaster zones, but usually only because a provocateur has made a big (or persistent) enough noise to begin with. I think green guerillas have a vital role to play. There's a Cowspiracy too BTW. Big Grin

thanks Ruby...
Sunday's are always a bit boring (no, not boring, i really mean chilled...) so we might have to stay in, sit back and watch it today then, and give us a bit of a reality check from watching Hollywood make believe.
