Something I would like to raise . Myslef I always found the song bye Don McClean American Pie somewhat iritating . Thus when it was anounced that Madonna was going to do it I thought "oh what!" Anyway when it was played on the radio for the first time , a few weeks before it was released , hated to admit it though I did , it actually did not sound so bad . Come the second time that was it , "Hooked" . And it could not come out quick enough and when it id , bought it the first day it came out . Well pleased when it went straight to No.1 in the UK charts .
Many I know wont agree but even after almost ten years to this day is still amazes me how what in my opinion Madonna could trun one of the most iritating songs on Earth into something "outstandingly brilliant" Well done Madonna .:llama:

So a few years ago I was in a little independent shop where they play whatever the staff want and Don McLean's American Pie came on.
Two pre-teen girls beside me said - 'Listen to that - some-one's covering Madonna' - well the same look that the shop assistant and I shared, I now pass on to you.

Madonna only does half the song. I remember hearing Madonna's version on the radio when it first came out and thinking 'Where's the rest of it?'
It annoys me when people only perform half a song.
American Pie is epic. Madonna mutilated it.:mad:

I like Don McClean version. I don't think I have heard Madonna's. If I did, then I didn't think much of it considering I can't remember it.
But I am going to try and listen to it

Don Maclean's version is far divine..
Madonna's version sucks...
No further comments, don't want to get bashed by Madonna fans. Though I like her work, Ray Of Light is my all time fave Pop song... But there are some songs which are not meant for her..
American Pie, I believe is a song dedicated to a sad day in music history... Madonna's song reminisces none of that..

I just listened to Madonna's on youtube. Don't like it. Ruining a perfectly good song

I think it was the other way round myself . But then I expected this upturn some ctroversy .
