Wow, I wasn't expecting this! (the sound).
music is quite modern and upbeat for Morrissey.
almost pop in places.
still the same downtrodden, oh woe is me themes that have made his career
what it is.
lyrics are still as poetic (for want of a better word) as always, theres spite, venom,
rage and humour and all done with that cheeky twinkle in his eye as he's singing it.
hearing hints of 90's Bowie in the music, Prodigy too, elements of Gospel on one track.
this is Morrissey stepping out of a different closet he came out of a couple of decades ago (pun intended).
not saying its a classic but it is certainly the best thing he has released in a long while IMO.
possibly worth being given a chance even if youre not a big fan.
