I never saw this one coming!
one of my favourite bands of the New Wave era.
was expecting a full on pro Greta/anti Trump/anti Brexit-pro EU rant for ten songs but I didn't hear it.
im sure all of the above was there but it was probably to subtle for me to pick up on.
album opens with a song that harks back to the days of Glam Rock,
then we hear several which have a distinct Blur sound.
its not difficult to compare Geldof's voice to that of Blur frontman Damon Albarn neither.
they've stuck to their New Wave/pseudo punk roots here which is okay by me as they wont win over new fans
anyway but it should satisfy the ears of 50 somethings whose formative years were made up with listening to them.
look,
theres no I Don't Like Mondays, Rat Trap or Banana Republic on here but it is a pretty decent album
for what it is and its certainly better than most of the crap released nowadays hands down.
