Personally I don’t much care for Christmas songs per se, I prefer traditional carols. Some that appeal to me …

James Taylor – “In the Bleak Midwinter” … https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6qmtO6cebcU

Jethro Tull – “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen” … https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D3JMcW1D69g - instrumental

Mark Lanegan – at least fourteen of the sixteen minutes of his Dark Mark Does Christmas EP, which includes a great “We Three Kings”, but particularly for his rendition of “Coventry Carol”, acapella, which is just beautiful … starts at 10.38 … https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WhgfLvqp-xI, and his “O Holy Night” in which he extends his voice to a range that is quite unexpected, for him! … https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5LxUEzU9CNc

Loreena Mckennit – always had a soft spot for “Good King Wenceslas” … https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gBpEw0DZ7ws

And in contradiction of all the above, and just for fun, Billy Mack’s ‘festering turd of a record’, lol! His own words … well – the character’s words I should say, and it is actually Bill Nighy singing … from the very funny, feelgood movie, Love Actually ...

my big problem with Christmas themed songs is that for eleven and a half months a year they are, overall, really irrelevant and feel wrong when I play them,

of course, there are exceptions....Band Aid, Lennon, Greg Lake, Paul Kelly, Chris Rea, Slade, Roy Wood, Elvis Presley, all of which I can enjoy anytime....

If swearing counts as being naughty, those kids have screwed their chances with Santa for the rest of their lives. :biggrin1:

Forgot to mention Elton John - "Step into Christmas".

A fairly ordinary song by Elton's standards, but pleasant and danceable. It was backed with the amusingly titled "Ho! Ho! Ho! (Who'd Be a Turkey At Christmas?)"
