What's your favourite Doors album?
in order from best to worst:
1. Strange Days
Their, arguably, most psychedelic album, a genre I'm in love with. I used to think 'Strange Days' wasn't great, but now I love it. Absolutely fantastic. 'You're Lost Little Girl' is supremely underrated. 'Love Me Two Times' is one of their rockier songs and an absolute classic. 'Unhappy Girl' is brilliant psychedelic pop, too underrated, just wish it was longer. Their only real song under 2 minutes I believe. 'Horse Latitude' is a bunch of nonsense, would have done better if a real song took its place. 'Moonlight Drive' is a great bluesy piece. 'People Are Strange' is a classic. 'My Eyes Have Seen You' is one of their faster, rockier songs as well and is really fantastic. 'I Can't See Your Face In My Mind' is the weakest song on the album, but isn't bad, and then we have 'When the Music's Over' which I personally think is a better 10 minute piece than even 'The End' from their debut.
2. Morrison Hotel
I can't be bothered going song by song again. I didn't like this album at all on first listen but now I think it's probably their most accessible album, which is great feat as it was also a turn back to their bluesy roots.
3. Waiting For the Sun
This only just beats L.A Women. Probably equally as psychedelic to Strange Days with some pretty awesome trippy tracks, 'Spanish Caravan' and 'The Unknown Soldier' taking the cake. Really great album.
4. L.A Women
Like Morrsion Hotel, I hated this album at first, couldn't stand the utter dullness of it all, but unlike Morrison Hotel, even on my second and third listens I still hated it. Fourth listen it finally clicked, and songs like 'The Crawling King Snake' and 'Cars Hiss By My Window' totally grew on me. I really, really like this album, and even if it's fourth on the list, I find my self listening to this more than the others for some reason.
5. The Doors
Their debut album as anything less than first or second? Heresy! Don't get me wrong, I love every one of their albums, but I don't see how this is better than their other psychedelic albums especially. Still, an absolute classic nonetheless.
6. The Soft Parade
Their most unique album when compared to their others. It's too short and the song Soft Parade isn't good enough to justify the short length. It was hated for being too mainstream for lack of the intelligence to find a better word, but I think it's as good as the others, that is if The Soft Parade song wasn't so cheesy. Not to say I don't like the song, but I'd rather trade three more average length songs instead. Great album though.
So yeah, that's my list. Love all of em. Third favourite band behind Pink Floyd and then The Beatles as No. 1. You don't need to take as much space if yoy donMt want, what is yoyr favourite?
