eighteen tracks, five of which are previously unreleased
and date back to the late 1960s...
all eighteen tracks were handpick by The Boss to accompany
the October release of his autobiography "born to run"...
the five unreleased tracks didn't do anything for me but I guess
real die hard fans will embrace them, me, i'll just wait to read
the book...

He went through this period of writing very introspective stuff, 'The Ghost of Tom Joad' being one of a couple of albums I really liked, but I am not a big fan of his 'rock' stuff. The consummate performer and a brilliant entertainer but his low-key albums are pure genius.

it actually took me a long time to appreciate Ghost Of Tom Joad for some reason but its a great atmospheric album IMO...
Nebraska is absolutely brilliant IMO, probably my favourite album of his along with The River and Darkness On The Edge Of Town.

Nebraska was my first BS album. Also has that distinctive atmosphere that TGOTJ has.

I'm glad there's someone else in the same boat as me. I've found myself over his "rock" stuff, but still love the more low-key albums. "Greetings," "The Wild, The Innocent," "Nebraska," "Ghost of Tom Joad," and "The Seeger Sessions" are really all of Bruce's catalog I care to listen to at this point, plus a couple songs here and there. Fantastic stuff though.

The Ghost Of Tom Joad is pure raw emotion. Makes what little hair I have left stand on end. Hits every nerve - an absolute masterpiece IMO.

I do like Born To Run (the song). But in general I agree, Bruce is at his best when he slows down the pace a little.
