What's your favorite song?
#1
Okay! So one of those long threads. What's your favorite song from the 80's and what's your favorite from the latest.

I could narrow it down to probably 5 songs from each year of the 1980s (or any other decade), but not one song from an entire decade, that would be
asking just a little too much.

Can't think of a single song that stands out from the 80's - I know there are some, but I just can't think of them right now. Not my favourite period. Two favourite songs of all time are 'Vincent' by Don McLean & 'Heaven's Gate' by Toni Childs. A close third would be ELP's 'C'est La Vie' - all three of these songs display the art & craft of songwriting. Something that is sadly missing these days. 'Caravan Song' by Mike Batt would also be a contender.
'The purpose of life is a life of purpose' - Athena Orchard.

The 80's was not my favourite decade, but there were a few gems. Maybe Mike + the Mechanics - The Living Years.

or this one:

By the way, I think you should rename the thread to specify 80's.

From today, it's currently "Settle Down" by The 1975.
God, it's brilliant. I just can't get enough of it. Every time I hear it, it's like I'm hearing it for the first time.

From the 80's I'd say it's "Hungry Heart" by Bruce Springsteen.

Wow, this is a hard question and I can think of quite a few artists. Probably Thriller by Michael Jackson even though I like his Bad album's stuff too.

I don't know many songs from the 80's because that's before my time but I think Time After Time by Cyndi Lauper was in that decade.

I love that song.

I don't have a favorite that has been released this year.
