Trans-Siberian Orchestra - Letters From The Labyrinth
#1
enters the Billboard chart this week at #7

Spotify spin
my favorite kind
not rap or modern country
plus someone I wasn't familiar with
even though they have 6 albums and 4 platinum
some good Kansas sounding prog
any male vocals were terrible
a few piano based that felt good

I can hear Whitney doing this

Better than Adele's new stuff. Less manufactured and more soul. Thx for the link MH - this I like! try the track at 01:45:00 https://youtu.be/LiCKJDVJnAw
Kayla Reeves is just amazing. Best thing I have heard since Beth Hart.

think there were 3 tracks that featured female vocals similar to the linked one
then there were some with male vocals which I thought were really bad
there were also a few instrumentals which I liked but supplying your own lyrics is a pain
so I guess the only ones I liked were the female vocals
they remind me of Annie Haslam
the album would be discount bin material for me
in your case I would at least give it a listen before a purchase

I've always been intrigued by this band, but all of the Holiday stuff turned me off. Guess I'll give this one a listen, I do like symphonic prog music.

I don't know anything about her CH. Just the tracks here on MD.

To quote a line from MH - 'I think I am in love........'

Kayla is certainly someone who presses the right buttons with me. She just oozes sensuality/sexuality - and it's not an act - she just has it - whatever 'it' is.

I do find some of the prog music a bit overblown (too much hair/guitar posing/fireworks etc.), but it does have some good moments.

Could you be undergoing a classical conversion MH?! They’ve reworked Beethoven, Borodin, Mussorgsky and Bach for a number of those instrumentals. I have no problem with that, in essence, plenty others have gone there and will continue to do so; but on the whole, for my taste, I find their sound a bit too bombastic. There’s a missing ingredient, IMHO, which may be finesse. Lol! What a snob!

Infinitely preferable to most new releases though, including “Hello”, which is driving me nuts. I feel quite sorry for Adele - she has been consumed by the very machine that feeds her and has become a Stepford wife to the music industry. What a shame.

Ruby Wednesday, you are 100% correct on both counts - TSO is overblown in parts and so is the reaction to Adele's new single. She should have stuck with her original plans. But the milking machine that is the music industry are too busy patting themselves on the back and counting YT views to notice that they have killed the goose that laid the golden egg. Oh well - back to X-Manu-Factored
