Jeff Lynne's ELO "alone in the universe"
I was hesitant to click on this one on my online listen because I
didn't want to be disappointed with it(even though I liked the
lead off single from it)....
I needn't have worried, Lynne is Lynne, end of story...
he has his distinct sound and whether it is on his own albums or
as a producer for other artists the ELO sound comes through it...
nice album, has all the ELO hallmarks of lovely melodies, almost
dreamy vocals and orchestrations running through the tracks...
yes, the Beatle influences are all over this one just like they are over
just about everything they have recorded...
a good album on a solitary listen and im off to purchase it tomorrow!

good one mate, I don't think youll be disappointed in it(and for obvious reasons don't expect it to be 'classic elo', but as an album in its own right, it is pretty good).

BTW Jerome....
do you own all of ELO's albums, if not, which ones do you own?
and....
all I own is "discovery" and "time", love both of them(was too young to really buy albums prior to Discovery, and my taste veered off in other directions after Time)
I also own a compilation....
so, what should I own that I haven't got(either ELO or Jeff Lynne solo)?
if youre interested...
the three I list below were produced by Lynne....superb albums IMO
George Harrison "brainwashed"
George Harrison "cloud nine"
Tom Petty "full moon fever"
those three happen to be, IMO, the best albums each artist made, Lynne took both artists to a level they couldn't have achieved without him, much like Dylan's "infidels" and Knopfler at the helm.
