That's right--Microsoft is offering a fully-functioning, non-expiring copy of Windows 10 via download at no cost *. Reserve your copy now and when it's released (July 29), they'll download it to you. You can cancel the reservation with no penalty at any time. For more including how to reserve:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-10-upgrade?ocid=win10_auxapp_LearnMore_win10 and
https://www.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/features
The real deal and both are safe links.
* They don't say so explicitly but I assume they will DL to as many individual computers as you have, and to anywhere in the world.

I got this in my mailbox as well today. My advice - hold off until they find all the bugs and fix them. Better safe than sorry.

Woof woof. You guys have just 1 computer? Really? So one of mine's gonna be the test bed and Windows 7 Pro stays on the others. Yes, MS is in effect using us as Guinea pigs, because they can't possibly think of all the permutations and combinations but it's still a hell of an offer. They learned a lot from the Win8 fiasco, and that old saw remains true--the odd numbered Windows were good and stable; the evens, a crap-shoot (this'uns really Win9).

Yep, just one for me, but everyone in the house each has one if that counts.

Win 9 was abandoned in favour of Win 10.

Quite a few of my colleagues have abandoned Win 8 and gone back to Win 7. I have not used Win 8 but by all accounts it's not very popular. I will delay installing Win 10 until I see the reviews.
