I haven't got a copy and don't plan to get a copy. I liked Eminem's music around 8 to 10 years ago. But personally my taste has moved on.

He used to be my favorite rapper. Until I started listening to better rappers. He's okay I guess. His older stuff is so much better. It just doesn't compare.
You're gonna go far, Kid.

Yes, I do realize that this is quite an old thread. Perhaps I can bring it back to life. Smile

I like it a lot, and I've heard all of his albums. I think he's really going back to the roots, the Slim Shady that is actually angry at the world. And funny too. I think all of the songs are really Eminemish, if that's even a word, the totally outrageous man who has a mouth that's too big for his own good.

I think that if you really want to be sure that Eminem is "back", watch the news. I did and guess what? People were outraged that he made fun of Sarah Palin.

The lyrics aren't as political as they used to be, but I like that. I think that if you write too many political songs it get's...whiny. Eminem has pretty much said everything he wants to about politics, and it's not pretty.

All this said, this is not anywhere near my favourite album. No. I think it's great, but not as great as his previous albums. I especially miss the more emotional songs as it get's a little too much with all the clowning. Yes, it's funny, but it gets old. Songs like 8 Mile Road and Mockingbird never gets in my opinion.

The last thing I want to say is that the lyrics feel a little hollow(?). They don't really have a message other than all the clowning. As I mentioned, it gets old. My personal favourite song by Eminem is 8 Mile Road, and the reason is because I can relate so well to the lyrics, and that's really important. I can't relate to this album, and that's a huge disappointment.

That is what I think!

The thing I didn't like about Eminem was when he did a live concert in Germany some years ago and took some pills on stage in front of everyone. One might ask what exactly he is trying to teach kids. But saying that, the topic of some of his songs are not exactly a great idea either.

Liked the first 2 albums, even though I could certainly never play them around the kids.

Yep, must agree with a few names above. The elder stuff surely is better. In my opinion ofcoarse! To me the elder tracks just had deeper and more meaningful lyrics.

I hated it. I listen to a hodgepodge collection of Eminem, I don't even know which album any of the songs come from, but I listened to the new album and hated it. That's just me, of course. Just too clunky, and I agree, it felt kinda hollow...

Many people dislike Eminem and are offended by his lyrical content, and rightfully so. I absolutely agree that he is offensive, crude, vulgar and often overboard in every department. Still, when i listen to any hip-hop, the talent and wordplay of the artist always means just as much to me as (if not more than) how catchy the song is itself. Eminem's song topics and content have certainly gotten repetitive, but his flow and delivery have always been and will always be impeccable. I has its hits and misses, but Relapse has for the most part made its way into my daily music rotation. He still manages to shock and impress me with his lyrics. I definately wouldn't recommend the new album for anyone who's tired of him talking about homicide, or didn't like him to begin with; but hardcore fans and anyone who appreciates lyrical talent will be able to at least tip their hat to his latest effort. Besides, songs like Drake's "Forever" show us that he certainly has a lot more to offer, and hasn't fallen off yet.
