I would like people to tell me their favorite Indie bands! I've been out of touch for awhile so I don't really know that many anymore. I love Indies before the record producers get to them and change their sound. Raw is where it's at, if you ask me. My absolute favorite is a band called Sometimes5, they rock!!

I think the term Indie has slightly differing meanings on either side of the Atlantic.
My experience of Indie probably kicks off with The Smiths (Superb band) in the UK, and these days, the definition of Indie is loose at best.
On the subject of producers, I don't think they are an issue. There are bands who can self-produce from the off to good effect, and there are also plenty that work well with producers. A good producer should first & foremost be a good facilitator...

I do agree with you about the definition of Indie, but I disagree with you about producers changing the sound of bands, especially once the big record labels get hold of these bands. They tend to try and make them more "commercial" so they in turn can make more money off of them. I'll see if I can find The Smiths to have a listen. Thanks.

I'm a fan of Neutral Milk Hotel, Fruit Bats, Built to Spill, Grand Archives, Band of Horses, and Grand Archives, just to name a few. You might like some of them.
