What Radio Stations Do You Listen To and What Sort Of Programs Do You Listen To?
#1
I wanted to start this thread because what with the internet etc we can quite easily stream radio from almost anywhere .I am sure that there are some exelent stations and programs that if we all knew about we might enjoy listening to if we only knew.

Personally I like to listen to the BBC radio stations...one of my favourites is BBC Radio 2 .

One program I would recommend is "Sounds Of The Sixties" presented by Brian Matthews ....this long running program runs from 8 til 10 am and of course you can listen to it using streaming etc and on the site for 7 days after broadcast.

It is an excellent program for its content features and its rare sixties tracks.

The presenter is a real trouper and has a history which includes working with many 60s artists including The Beatles.....

This program is well worth a listen.Cool
Nice to be able to go back to trust and friendship!!!!!!!!!

It's a mixed up sensation this being alive
Oh! it wears a man down into the ground
It's the strangest elation
I can't describe it
Oh it leaves a man weary
It makes a man frown.

sounds good Gryphon...i will check that show out mate....
im assuming the time slot is GMT?

the station i listen to most out here is CurtinFM...

they play mostly music pre-1980s,

saturday afternoons midday-4pm, "born in boots" country music show
after 10am sundays its 'real' rock and roll from the 50s-60s
weekdays 9am thru midday they have a show called "Peter Waltham's:down memory lane", lots of music from the pre rock era

i usually only listen when im working, allother times i prefer my music.

BTW,
a friend of mine who does part-time work at a local indipendant/community radio station asked me if i wanted to go in there, get trained up on the equipment and host a show once a week for two or three hours...
as it is a small station, all work there is volunteer based and i would get to format my own shows but....

work comes first on weekdays and weekends are the only time Dani and I have 'chill out'...

would be a dream job for me to do that...who knows, maybe one day, at some point???

There is no shortage of music out there! My favourite internet radio is CBC 2, I listen to Tim Tamashiro's Jazz show called Tonic from 8 - 10 pm on most nights Monday to Friday, Signals from 10 to midnight is great , new world, avant garde, and progressive music with Laurie Brown. Then there's Vinyl Tap (cool name ) with rock guitarst Randy Bachman of the Guess Who and BTO ! He has a theme every week, best guitar singles, best girl groups, songs that have party as their theme, etc,,,a lot of fun and great music history!..airs Friday night.

On the weekends there's a great blues program -. Saturday Night Blues from 10 to midnight with Holger Peterson ! Sunday is The Strombo show with George Stroumboulopoulos from 7 to 9 pm ...I like this show the best ...he plays different genres from country to classical...etc.

Then there's the wicked metal station...Brutal Existence,,,many genres of metal music including my friend's show on Thursday from 5 to 8 pm!

*grumbles* Would that we were allowed to listen to CBC broadcasts over here on the other side of the boarder, SteveO. Control of the CBC radio waves is tighter than...[fill in your own measure]. *laughs*

I tend to switch between oldies and current pop on my "getting ready radio," and stick to Spotify and rdio for my daily listening. Commercial radio annoys me because of the...you guessed it...commercials! I get most of my new music here, and I'm happy with that!

Do you have to go to the station to run a show? Could it be done piece-meal (an hour at a time) in your home then packaged and transmitted to the station's physical facilities? Most importantly, does Dani have any interest in joining you in this?

Not to be a cheese-eater here but Sirius XM carries some CBC shows/networks and have home receivers--currently a sale on these and service nets out to be $10/month. Check it out. http://shop.siriusxm.com/edealinv/servle...ntID=49759 << when your year's subscription runs out and they come back with double the price, in a calm manner tell them you'll quit if the promo price isn't extended--the Customer Service folks have the latitude to do this.
Another option is an Internet radio that plugs into your computer--don't know ('cuz I'm too lazy to look) if CBC is carried but with 13,000 radio channels available...
http://aluratek.com/usb-internet-radio-jukebox-outlet << amazing that something that small can be so much; this company has other neat stuff too--stong with Bluetooth stuff, USB chargers, etc. No, I don't own stock in them, just being my own kind of helpful.

Bless you, Jazzbo! You are one of the most helpful people on the planet!! I will check these options out, and report back on my decision! Thank you!!!

another word that they changed the meaning of on me, radio

for me, nothing on the computer, unless you call Spotify, radio
back in the day when it was my definition
the last things that I listened to were Rush (not the group), and NPR

Since when has radio meant "broadcast radio"? That leaves out all amateur radio, which by definition is narrowcast. And thus it's true for internet radio. The meaning didn't change.; it became more all-encompassing and more widely spread. Radio is at it's core a medium for 1 or 2 way exchange of non-visual communication. That we have been stuck in a simpler explanation is entirely our fault, grumble though we might. This is the 21st Century and it's as real as any other. Refrigerators are fake; bring back the icebox.
I only listen to radio in my vehicle via SiriusXM and the channels are: Deep Tracks, '60's soul, Ritmo Caliente, Real Jazz, Natch'l Blues and The Joint (Jaimo tunes). If I can't find something on these 6 channels...I sing to myself.
