Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin is known as one of the most influential and iconic rock songs ever. Fans to this day get lost in their own world as the guitar riffs blast off their speakers. But nearly 4 decades after the songâs release (Stairway to Heaven released on 8th November 1971) American Rock Instrumental Band have claimed that Stairway to Heavenâs opening riff was taken from their song Taurus that was released in 1968.
They allege that Led Zeppelin heard to Taurus when they were touring with them in the 60âs. The band along with the family of deceased songwriter Randy California is suing Led Zeppelin. The fans are wondering if the claim is actually real what took them so long to file a suit. Listen to the song and tell us what you think of it?

yeh...there are vague similarities to both tracks, maybe Page subconsciously took it all in and re-wrote it...
look, its been done a million times by a million bands,
i could probably name a couple of dozen songs that could possibly sound similar to another song...
the most blatant 'rip-off' song or plagarism was The Jam's "start" which was almost indentical to Beatles "taxman" in places, but George Harrison never sued Paul Weller over it, he saw it as "imitation" and being "influenced" sub-consciously by the song

As much as money from the new high-zoot discs from Jimmy Page, the executors want proper credit given. Their suit essentially stops the issuance of this new venture by the demi-billionaire until it's settled or credit given (and, yes, royalties paid) to to Mr. California's estate. Mr. Page didn't just abstract themes, words, ideas--he stole. Case closed--game over. Oh and BTW, he's always been a braggart, a thug and a bully.

Spirit toured with Led Zeppelin in 1969..two years before Stairway to Heaven was released...?????

I like spirit a lot... you should check out "dark eyed woman" I think it's one of their best.
