The Avett Brothers
#1
I must be the last guy in town to hear of them (there's 4 pages of listing when I searched here). A Wiki with a SF Chronicle writer describing their sound:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Avett_Brothers AMG has a good bio/description also: http://www.allmusic.com/artist/the-avett.../biography And Discog: http://www.allmusic.com/artist/the-avett...iscography << 12 albums including 3 live in 9 years and so prolific that they had enough unused material from one disc to form the heart of another. Their Website: http://www.theavettbrothers.com/ << They have a big do coming up at Red Rocks in July--expect a CD/DVD package from that.

Some tunes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=abQRt6p8T7g 3-song set from NPR's Tiny Desk series

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RbW08aKDoQ4
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iEr9gMYdkHI

SEMI-BONUS--1/2 hour on Austin City Limits last month: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CRm4betTfAA
BONUS--A full hour on ACL Music Fest last year: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UJFD3yJo2Lw << There are a few more whole concerts on YT

I'm not saying these are their best song or perfs--just some I came across. I'll say this: now I know what the hoopla is all about and I'm a BIG fan.

...Let me wallow in self-pity for a moment or two--the reason I ignored them is my prejudice about some music modes...and there's no guarantee it won't happen again. But thanks for the kind words.

I hear ya jazz
which is why I'll listen to anything...........once
as you well know I usually leave my smart ass comment behind
of I don't like it or I hate it
but that occasional rare find of a gem makes it all worthwhile
glad you found the Avett's

I listen to everything/anything also....
And like MH,hear a lot of crap, but occasionally....and I mean occasionally, hear something new that I've never heard of which makes sifting through the crap to get there worthwhile IMO...

Learned "Ill With Want" on the piano today. Beautiful song. Have loved the Avett Brothers for years now. Saw them back in 2011 and looking forward to seeing them again in my hometown of Wilmington, NC this spring. They are from my home state of NC (Concord) and my family loves these super talented guys.

Saw them last night in my hometown as part of the North Carolina Azalea Festival. My husband and I took our grandson and his friend. They are playing Madison Square Garden tonight. Love, love, love these guys. Second time seeing them. Awesome show!
