What Are You Listening To?
^I remember that single well! It was memorable! Not familiar with anything else of his though - will have to listen some time.

Who....Pitney or Almond????

If its Marc Almond he was vocalist for Soft Cell....
They had a huge hit with "tainted love"....
They also did another brilliant cover of Supremes' "where did our love go?"
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..."  -  Me 2014.

Mr. Almond also did this duet w/Jimmy Somerville backed by Bronski Beat on this Donna Summer classic--funky, quirky, funny vid: https://video.search.yahoo.com/video/pla...-fh_lsonsw << Love the pantherine grace of the cat

Sorry - wasn't clear about that! It's Pitney I'm not familiar with, other than that duet.

i think you'll find "dont leave me this way" was recorded by Communards(Jimmy Somerville's band after he split from Bronski Beat) it was their debut single...

i did actually like Bronski Beat and Communards back in the day...

here's a Communards track for you, wasnt a big seller but a lovely haunting ballad nonetheless, written in the aftermath of one of Somerville's friends death from AIDS...

Definitely. There's a good 2-CD collection available for about $20 total, which includes written interviews about the songs: http://www.allmusic.com/album/looking-th...0000098616 << good intelligent review

I'm cheating slightly because I heard these on my local radio station last night. The first is Someone Who Loves Me by Tony Bennett, which had an epic arrangement. I do not know which version I heard, as I assume he will have recorded several, but it was not recent. Contrary to his diehard fans, I think his voice is deteriorating, but he is 89!

The other was a large segment from the original soundtrack to Stanley Donen's Seven Bride for Seven Brothers. My mother loves musicals from this era and she got me into them. It was beautiful and included Wonderful, Wonderful Day.
