Great local band! I have walked my dog with Craig Mercer and his dog...band leader and lead singer! He told me he has to play many types of muse ...EDM, rock, indie, country rock, to make a decent living! Craig took a trip to China to do some electronic dance music...said the kids over there love it!!!!

The following excerpt is from The Will Be Gones website.

About

New project from JSB singer Craig Mercer - bare bones rock & roll with a hint of alt / country in the vein of Wilco, Avett Bros... LIKE for FREE MUSIC!
Biography
Wilco and Tom Petty meet up by chance at Johnny Cash's grave, each bearing a bottle of whiskey - drinks are poured, and The Will Be Gones are born.

The Will Be Gones is a ragtag assembly of established east coast musicians, featuring award winning songwriter and singer Craig Mercer of the Jimmy Swift Band / Scientists of Sound together with members of Deerfield, the Grass, Billy Dre and the Poor... Boys, the Duke of Loops, HuNoo, Big Game Hunt, and more... The result is some down-home, dirty, in your face rock and roll - with a hint of alt/country - and insatiably catchy melodies that will have you toe tappin' and drink swillin' and wanting to hear more.

Formed in the late summer of 2010, the Will Be Gones have been busy - they have toured across the maritimes and performed at several major east coast festivals - including Fredrock, The Sunseeker's Ball, and the 2011 ECMAs.... They have opened for The Stanfields, The Tom Fun Orchestra, Thornley, Grand Theft Bus, and more... Their debut album is currently in production and is scheduled for release in the fall of 2013.

The Mellotones are outstanding and shows that excellent, make that "world class", bands can be from anywhere. One cavil: with your generic Thread title, this is in danger of getting lost soon as new stuff gets posted about others. Could you move it to or at least cross-reference it in "Local Heroes"? BTW, here's how to get in touch: http://www.themellotones.ca/

For all new fans: she has a ton of stuff on YT and BTW, co-wrote this song. 6 CDs since '07, all reviewed well. http://www.allmusic.com/artist/jill-barb...iscography
