Hunter & The Bear
#1
Haven't posted in the Country/Folk forum for a while... to be honest I haven't had a good enough reason to, until I discovered this absolute peach of a band called - Hunter & The Bear!!

Quote:Hunter & The Bear are a British group lead by Jimmy Hunter & Will Irvine.

Inspired by artists such as The Band, Dire Straits and Bruce Springsteen, Will & Jimmy started to write and perform as a duo with Jimmy playing lead guitar, mandolin and backing vocal whilst beside him Will on the rhythm guitar and singing lead vocals. Having started the band in Newcastle where they were studying at University they moved to London in 2012 to bring their own brand of power folk to the huddled masses. Gareth Thompson, drums and Chris Clark, bass, completed the line up in 2014 to bring you a live set up you don’t want to miss.

If you have ever been to the North of England (or even beyond the wall) you will understand why this song is just simply Brilliant!

It also makes me feel patriotic for Scotland for some strange reason... although I'm not Scottish

Would love to hear your thoughts on the two tracks anyway?

Managed to see the band live at the Hospital Club in London. They performed a few new tracks which sounded amazing! 'Pick Me Up' being one those that definitely stood out from the rest!

'Forest on The Hill' also had a great response from the crowd!

Nice artwork too!

The Band mentioned they had just got back from supporting Eric Clapton in Leeds and Glasgow!

Glad they're getting the attention and exposure they deserve

Yeah I can see that...

I just think these lads are really talented song writers, They've just got back from supporting Eric Clapton on his latest UK tour.

This is H&TB's latest single - 'Pick Me Up' from the forthcoming EP 'Before I come Home'.

I think this could be their strongest single to date!

Lucky enough to be seeing them at Cornbury festival tomorrow, alongside Simple Minds, Sophie Ellis Bextor, The Feeling, Jools Holland and Scouting For Girls. Should be a good one Big Grin

Taliesin is taken from H&TB previous EP - DUSTY ROAD

https://soundcloud.com/hunter-and-the-bear/taliesin-1

Quote:Produced by the band and Jamie Bell (Metronomy, Richard Ashcroft and The Rifles), the lead single “Forest On The Hill” begins with fast paced steady beats and groovy acoustic guitars, which instantly captivate the listener. What comes next? Will’s husky and soulful vocals take over, followed by Jimmy’s adroitly crafted backing vocals. These intricately layered vocal harmonies are a signature sound of Hunter & The Bear, and add a layer of sharpness and unsettling spirituality to the track.

Self -released, self-guided and self-confident, the boys are all about the organic and rootsy emotion that they have mastered very well. Their desire to affect one’s mind and body has become monumental in their pounding, acoustic feel and combined with period cobbler, they’re fresh, current and ready. What’s their next move? They want to move YOU!

#ThrowbackThursday Hunter & The Bear performing live at Cornbury Music Festival.

Was very fortunate to be their in person to watch the full performance. Alongside the legend himself Jools Holland, not to forget the impressive performance by Simple Minds!!

Anyway, Here we have the fabulous folk foursome - H&TB performing Montana Men.
