I find that a lot of the country pop singles sound the same!

I agree
but that's our standard line for any genre we don't like
why? because we don't listen to it enough
why don't we listen to it enough? because it all sounds the same

interestingly enough, i was watching a show last night called "great music cities of the world", that episode was about Nashville...
they had interviews with a lot of artists who come from Nashville or who based/live there including Kings Of Leon,Jack White,Paramore,Black Keys plus country artists like Loretta Lynn and Keith Urban....
they all agree that most of the music that comes out of Nashville is not country, but because the artists come from there they are labelled "country" by what they term "men in suits in NY and LA"...!
and its true...most of these so-called country artists are actually pop artists IMO...
and Jack White believes the lines of country and pop got blurred when Shania Twain became a bonefide pop singer.
was surprised to find out that there are around 1000 recording studios in and around the Nashville area, hell, theres even hundreds of 'writers' studios whereby writers can collaborate with other writers...WTF?!
the vocalist for Paramore was saying that the session guys in Nashville are the most proffessional/profficient musos in the US, they can all hear a song in a rough demo once or twice and nail the track in one or two takes....that Paramore vocalist also stated 'we dont use the session guys on our records because it would show us up as very average"...LOL, at least she's honest.

Interesting Crazy mate! I am wondering if I can get the show/doc over here? Austin, Texas is possibly similar in nature to Nashville?
