A man accustomed to hear only the echo of his own sentiments, soon bars all the common avenues of delight, and has no part in the general gratification of mankind--Dr. Johnson

A bitterly ironic title, considering his epic struggles with heroin addiction! Full album:

What Hiromi does is technically mind-blowing. Something from inside her is unleashed! Simon Phillipsâ inner animal also makes an appearance here, and then there is Anthony Jackson, calmly holding it steady. A trio well worth seeing perform live, I am told!

Recording History
studio & live albums - 35
compilation albums - more than I wanted to count
from my library (cd)
Absolutely love the Ken Burns Jazz series that came out years back. Always said I would get all 22 artists that are covered. Up to about 5 now.
They always get overlooked when I go on my January spree. If you ever want to explore the jazz genre, this series would be a good start. Tracks
on this Monk compilation run from 1948-71. A wide span of 35 albums to pull from and you get 14 tracks out of it. My favorite is the track with
the most instruments being used, almost a big band feel. Least favorite is just Monk on piano doing a Gershwin classic. Big names on here
including Blakey, Jackson, Rollins, Roach and Coltrane. If you don't know those names shame on you.
I LIKE THIS ALBUM
