so you aren't really looking for female blues singers

A singer new to me. I am much taken her with her approach and her songwriting, though she is also folk-rocky. She had a '12 disc called Flesh and Blood that AMG liked (NOTE: The singing is soulful; the instrumentation is what I'd call Celtic blues-rock): http://www.allmusic.com/album/flesh-blood-mw0002377366 Some tunes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4L_o60eJDZA She has a new one out (The Covers Album) with some imaginative choices: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQYiKTjydgY and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zkHcISFmqNM and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=73dafwvkxbU
And then there's this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KHYLWwlit4I

You might cruise another Thread here about Blue-Eyed Soul singers. Admittedly male-centric, but many women are celebrated...and more all the time. Are you looking for post-folk with a soulful edge? The more info/examples with links we have, the mo' better advice can be given. http://www.music-discussion.com/showthre...ul-singers

Well my friend instead of asking for any specific singer it is better to listen to new upcoming singer who uploads their music videos in either youtube or Vimeo, they have defined old melodies in their own singing style. You definitely gonna love them.
