re-enters the Billboard chart this week at #14
I love it
it says this single is a live version from a 1988 concert
as I've stated before
I don't even understand the music industry
how does a 25 year old recording show up this high?
do they just make this shit up?

It was recorded then but when was it released/unleashed? Not considered good enough then or a wish to not cannibalize sales from then-current product (I use the term "product" 'cuz that's what it is)? Now of course to cash in and/or expose the present generation to the magic...

I get that jazz
but why not the original recording
if the above clip is what is actually released as a single
why would buyers purchase that over the original
they are both available
and we are talking audio recording, right? not that video
see I don't even know the definition of a single anymore
the last single I purchased was one of those round vinyl jobs
think they called 'em 45's
then there was this thing they played them on called a
never mind

i bet half the songs n the chart arent available on "single" or more correctly called CD-single(CDS)...
they are simply tracks downloaded from itunes...
we usually see that when Eminem releases a new album that he has four or five songs in the singles chart at the same time...
the "single" as we know it is officially dead...its not the artist or the record company who decides what sells anymore, its the consumer...
that said though, artists still make videos for certain tracks off albums,i guess they are the 'real' single releases???

I guess I always thought a single was supposed to be released before an album comes out, sort of like a sneak peek. I don't really get it either way because I'd rather wait and hear the whole album together and be subjected to the song that way.
Anyways, I never even payed Michael Jackson any mind whatsoever over the years just because I had this negative idea about him, and a lot of people I've met that are crazy about him I didn't like. This is really good though, I'll have to start checking out some other stuff.

How much do you think that thrown-away hat is worth now? Or any similar? I used to be able to dance like that...in my dreams. An infantile-ego eagerness-to-please, irregrdless or deliberately ignoring the personal, long-term cost, risen to the ultimate heights. These are to-the-minute pre-programmed thrills; not an second is spontaneous. So what? Knowing this, you still get thrilled. Why? Because he's the best entertainer of the final 1/3 of the 20th Century and we're blessed to have this immediate memory. How's this for cynical?--I can't wait for the unguarded moments of Prince, when his executors release them/ cash in...He has to die first...
