Arcticbird_Star's pick of tune from Merril Bainbridge shows the importance of testing links before posting--it's terrible and does an injustice to the artist. Try this instead: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cgRrZO1Ss1g
I enjoyed his/her other picks, and especially Hafdis Huld (that vid is a certified hoot), Sarah Nixey and Black Box Recorder (not a fan of beat-boxy hip-hop but clever lyrics and that vid make it work) and Siobhan Donaghy (spooky, that song and somebody thought to post it backwards: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IEAJAnLRyfQ ).
Anybody mind if I invite some mature women singing about adult issues into this party? Shemekia Copeland http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2p_lyw2-GIQ and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJq3W076cVw << guitarist is Arthur Neilson and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zaFiBZJiDek Finally: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_HCRxS9a4ZI Next up is Cassandra Wilson who brings her magic to everything: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1OnylHrbj...YV0lWGgL8E and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9x6nhPt4w...YV0lWGgL8E << get all slinky and stuff and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jSwsdh_TMrs and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aLa3TegBUIA And then there's Ann Rabson, part of Saffire--the Uppity Blues Women for 25+ years: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hA7n-7saQWU and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JjzMzW2SLH0 and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5GqM4cOPkoI and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfZcv9YfGIc

No disrespect by non-mention meant to Jane Siberry, Koko Taylor, kd lang or tens of others...
BONUS: 2 by Saffire http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0-o6z1XFCcQ and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bjbABvPw0P4
OK you can invite the kids back into the room...it's "back to trifling topics" time.

Yeah I know that link was bad audio quality but for some reason I thought that he fixed it. (sounded like he uploaded a better quality audio file
of the single..my mistake.) Should have just posted my HQ version upload instead. (The reason why I made my own upload in the first place.)
It's for a rare unreleased single by Merril Bainbridge that I own in good quality. Actually a four track single called Girl next door. I also have another
1 track unreleased single called "Friends" in good quality too. Both of these singles were released after her excellent second LP. It's such a shame that
she never got the chance to release a third full length album. I know if she did, that it would have been awesome!

Anyway, I fixed my link. And I "do" test links before posting but thanks for the advice. Ohh and..I'm a he. lol I see how you might get me confused for a women, seeing as how my taste in female pop is quite girly. Confusedhocked: But try to bare with me..

Glad to hear you enjoyed the Hafdis Huld & black box recorder song! Hafdis Huld is pretty awesome isn't she? :-)

Quote:Anybody mind if I invite some mature women singing about adult issues into this party?

Sure, go right ahead sir. It's a free country, or forum I mean. :-)

But.....keep in mind that I only like a small area of type of female singers and everything else
tends to bore me.

Just a disclaimer for my own music appreciation rights:
I only like female artists who sing with a more uplifting type of vibe and who have a quirky and cartoonish characteristic
nature about them. I don't really care for most "real artists" who "write all their own lyrics" to every song because I
think those type of artists are a bit overrated and I think that it does not justify what "makes a good artist good". (every time!)

I'm willing to sacrifice good meaningful lyrics for a catchy beat and a great vocal performance. I believe that a artist can "express" lots of
beautiful emotion and "deep feeling" through her music without having to sound all smart and sophisticated about it. Just my opinion.

With that being said, some artists "dumb lyrics" do get on my nerve sometimes and it's always a nice treat
(but not required) to find a very talented female pop artist who has intelligent lyrics to her music to go along
with her awesome personality. I actually really dig pop with an alternative approach over a mainstream type of sound/production to it.
Artists like Donna Lewis and Meja to name a few. (in my list above)

If you dig Cassandra Wilson, you might like Vanessa Williams - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D8lO4UQVrsA
An artist that my Dad liked a lot) :-)

I don't know of any of the female artists that you like but I think that it's safe to say that I can't get into any of
that type of music. Maybe someone else here can and will let you know of what appealed to them from your list though. :-)

Happy listening everyone!
