Now I gotta mention JJ Cale. He had several songs made famous by others notably "Cocaine" by Slowhand. No slacker as a player, was Mr. Cale.
His: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rGRjQ7WOmq8 the other guy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fdDhV45lYHU << a good tune scales up or down
Then Brother Leon. Interesting if mostly back-burner career; he's written some durned fine stuff. A prime example taken a different way by George Benson.
His: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WVtYNbFAxrY << serious pianism going on; his voice is an acquired taste. The other guy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RpEfAV1T5b0 << beautiful, unforgettable rendition

Rod the Mod giving his B/U singers their props: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IWTjdbziaTA << curious resemblance to Robin Williams these days. Couldn't find an unplugged version.

There's a version also where a lass comes on stage and plays the bagpipes!

There must be many Dylan songs made popular other than by Bob ! Forever Young was covered by Rod ....actually the song differs from Dylan's but in the end Rod agreed to share the royalties with Bob !...weird !...lol

When I saw this thread, I immediately thought of JJ. Great minds think alike I guess.

Another nice JJ piece is "Call Me The Breeze" made famous by Lynyrd Skynyrd.
