THE BEATLES "a hard days night" vinyl,cd 1964

UK career stats 1962-70

studio albums: 12
singles: 22

album stats: #1 literally everywhere!
singles:
"cant buy me love"................................#1UK, #1 AU,#3 CAN,#1 US
"a hard days night"...............................#1 UK, #1 AU,#1 CAN,#1 US
""and i love her" b/w ""if i fell"................#20 CAN,#25 US
"i'll cry instead" b/w "im happy just to...".#25 US

this was The Fab Four's third UK studio album...i refer to UK because it seems everyone else mish-mashed their albums with different tracks, different titles etc to suit their own country's needs and wants in the early years to catch up on two years worth of missed material i guess???
anyway, this was the first Beatle album whereby Lennon/McCartney(or should that be McCartney/Lennon?) wrote every song.
great, great harmonies on this album as was the case with their earlier albums when they were a band who liked eachother!
also, this album contains their first attempt at studio trickery in the double tracking of Macca's vocals on the beautiful ballad "and i love her",mind you, they werent the first rock artists to do double tracking...that was first done by Buddy Holly in the late 1950s.
theres really not much to criticise about this album, its a good solid album of early 1960s pop/rock and the tracks that only scored a 'like' rating from me could quite easily have got full marks, its simply impossible to knock anything they released IMO except that stupid "yellow submarine" album.
no need to put up links for any Beatle album as im sure we all know the songs...except Jerome who does not own one solitary Beatle album...shame on you J-man, shame on you!

THE BEATLES "revolver" cd,1966

this album stats: #1 everywhere that matters!

UK singles from album:

Yellow Subarine b/w Eleanor Rigby....#1 UK, #1 AU, #1 CAN, #2 US

this album was really the first one to show the four different sides to these guys IMO...
we have the comical Ringo..."yellow submarine"
we hear the not so subtle truths from George..."taxman"
we have the lamost pre-psychadelic John..."im only sleeping","tomorrow never knows"
then we have the balladeer and genuine pop from Paul..."here,there and everywhere" and "got to get you into my life"
this is four Beatles, each weaving their magic in their own ways...
i mean Paul wrote the brilliant "eleanor rigby" as a 23yo...that sort of song is about as mature as he got, sublime orchestral overtones abound there!
sorry, i really cant knock most Beatle albums in any way and this one is no exception...
when people ask me what Beatle albums are my favourite, this one always, without fail, gets mentioned at the top of the list!
again,im not putting up links for a Beatle studio album, we all know every track whether we own them or not!

I LOVE THIS ALBUM

1. taxman **
2. eleanor rigby ***

13.got to get you into my life ***
