They were one of many bands that were hip with the college rock crowd in the 1980's - 90's. I've always thought they were a very good band. I'm glad you enjoyed them.

THE FLAMING LIPS - The Terror .....released April 2013

[Image: THE%20TERROR%20FINAL%20copy%202%5B2%5D.png]

Finally got to stream this album, the band's 14th in 30 years! The Oklahoma City boys are not predictable! This album has high praise from numerous rock critics. It is difficult to put a finger on the eclectic sounds of The Flaming Lips! They'll try anything it seems !

This album is reminiscent of shoegaze, experimental rock, noise and art pop. A very cerebral record and masterfully done! l really loved listening and watching the tracks to this! Check out the videos for a better perspective in a live setting as opposed to studio!

Arizona band formed in 1989. Released an independent album that year, but it wasn't until this major
label debut was released in 1992 that the band got some notice. Four songs from that first album were
re-released on this one. During the recording, co-founder/guitarist Doug Hopkins was fired by the band
and later commited suicide. His firing was due to his bad attitude and constant drinking because of
what he believed was selling out. Ironic that upon leaving he agreed to a cash settlement for his
efforts. It usually comes down the money. Hopkins replacement in the band, Scott Johnson, gets credit
in the liner notes, even though he did not play during the recording sessions. It was a year after the
albums release before the single Hey Jealousy broke into the charts. Found Out About You was the follow
up and performed the same. The album was re-released as a result of those singles and my cover is
different than the original. It eventually topped out at #30 and has gone 4x platinum, remaining the
groups best selling album.

Their third album, and not as good as the last one for me. Replaced guitarist Doug Hopkins who had some
previous writing credits with Scott Johnson. A four year break between the two albums. Title is a
reference to the success of the last album and the suicide of Hopkins, who they had fired. Assuming the
firing led to his suicide. Nothing on this album that grabs me and three tracks I don't care for. Sound
is no different than the last one. The band called it quits for 10 years after this one and I never
picked up on the two albums since reforming. This one charted higher than the previous, at #10, but
failed to equal that ones overall sales. Subsequent albums haven't come close to those. Three singles
from here of which my fav of Follow You Down did the best, at #9.

Buffalo NY band formed in 1985 and still going, with an album out this year. Quite popular beginning in
the late 90's and remain so now. This is the groups third album and contains the original lineup. It
sounds very different than their later material that I am familiar with. Much more of a punkish sound
here and I'm sure the original fans cried sellout later down the road. I'm not one of those and must have
went back and got this after they became popular. I think I regretted the purchase. Not much on here for
me, with six tracks that I don't even like. Looks like an even split between Johnny and Robby for lead vocals,
with some non band member named Lance Diamond singing lead on the Prince cover of Never Take The
Place Of Your Man. Single released was There You Are which didn't chart nor did this album. It would be
five years later before the band had their breathrough.

I had the opportunity to talk to her in MB at Gaither fest. Hope to see her again in Oct. Great message in this song. No matter how bad things seem, it won't always rain. Janet went through a bout with cancer but pulled through with God's help and we are all better for it Confusedmile:
