I love that album...perhaps it's time for a nomination to the MD Hall of Fame for Michael ?

Lisa is definitely an acquired taste! Listen to her work on Zimmer's Gladiator soundtrack...she's from Australia but because of her exposure to Mediterranean music in her birthplace of Melbourne,, she uses Arabic and Middle Eastern nuances!!! She is also the lead vocalist in Dead Can Dance band!
Jerome Wrote:Had a listen to that Lisa Gerrard track. Sorry, I have to say it does not do it for me. Found it quite monotonous.

Jerome and Bellini !

I enjoy the contemporary singing of the French artist Emma Shaplin. Do you know of some modern classical music ...preferably uptempo and powerful ?

I'm scratching my head here but can't think of anything straight off at the moment.

Sarah Brightman in 'FLEURS DU MAL'. A rock version of 'STORM' by Vivaldi done by the korean violinist...what's her name?...forgot. But you look for it in youtube and you'll find it. An oldie, 'ECSTASY OF GOLD' by Ennio Morricone revisited by Metallica. Karl Jenkin's DIES IRAE. Soundtracks from 'MATRIX'. Hey, and you just might enjoy the rock group 'SCORPIONS' in concert with the "Berliner Philharmoniker". I personally love the main track from Kill Bill. Rock wham!!! One really incredible modern classic is Philip Glass, but I can't exactly define him as 'upbeat'. I'd say more obsessive, dark, onirical, disquieting. And when I have something else to suggest, I'll give you a nudge, SteveO. These suggestions are just starters.

Thanks for the reccos! The Scorpions looks interesting!...can't go wrong with the Berlin Philharmonic! I have a preference for live albums and DVD concerts!

Back to the subject of the thread - Mike Batt's soundtrack 'Caravans' is something I listen to a lot.
