CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:the cd version i have has been remastered at the correct speed etc apparently(according to the liner notes)...i never heard the original vinyl version???
aha
that makes sense then
also makes sense that it would have been corrected by now
it would be fun to compare the two, play each version of a song back to back
mine is really bad man, some tracks sound nothing like BJ

RICKIE LEE JONES "the magazine" cd, 1984.
Rickie's third full album if you discount the mini-lp "girl and her volcano"(which i also own along with the first two and another, making my total five)...
this one has a slight jazzy feel to it,but still, i regard it as easy listening(im not sure what easy listening really means or as comedian Billy Connolly says..."listening is easy, it happens to spite you!")
anyway, im not keen on this one, probably my least favourite jones set...
just no variation in the sound of the songs mostly, but i do love the gal's voice, so unique with that New York drawl...
she was big for, oh about five minutes...or for two albums i guess...and the chart placings represent that with a #44 high in the States, and #40 in the UK, only single that charted was "the real end" which only made it to #82 on the Billboard charts...and that sums up the strengh of this album IMO
I DO NOT LIKE THIS ALBUM

I think in this case for me Crazy, Rickie Lee is an acquired taste ! She does an amazing cover of Hendrix's Up From the Skies ! CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:[URL="http://www.music-discussion.com/wiki/File:Rickiemag.jpg"]![[Image: Rickiemag.jpg]](http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/4/48/Rickiemag.jpg)

BILLY JOEL "songs in the attic" cd, 1981
Billy's first live album...tracks are mainly from his formative years before he became famous and successful in the late 1970s...
a well recorded, superbly produced album of Billy with mainly piano accompanyment(although a band does play throughout)...
pretty difficult to rate a live album other than to say...I LOVE THIS!, absolutely brilliant from go to woe...excellent stuff from a guy in the prime of his prowess as a performer!

Leonards twelfth album and two duds in a row for me. I think this comes in better than Dear Heather though. Five tunes that pass and five that don't. I'm still blaming the decline on Sharon Robinson who shows up again here. Leonard was always a sucker for the ladies. Sharon has been a big part of Leonards last 3 albums. This one is his highest charting album in the U.S. at #3, and topped the charts in 11 countries, including the homeland of course. Long overdue acknowledgement from music buyers, but that should have come years ago. Forty four years since that first album. That deep baritone voice has become a mere whisper now. And that's where this goes, as much of this is relegated to spoken words rather than any attempt at singing. Leonard is going out as he came in, a poet.
