The Prodigy - Your Thoughts
#1
I loved the prodigy around 10 years ago. Recently they released a new album, probably ran out of money or something. But listening to their new music reminds me of their old music, Which some of it sounds a bit dated now.

What are your thoughts?
With Regards...

I like the old skool Prodigy the best. I love the albums Experience and Music for the Jilted Generation.

Prodigy were the first dance artists I ever took seriously. And they helped convert the teenaged me (who mainly liked metal and rock) into electronic music.

Music for the Jilted Generation is the album I listen to the most. Particularly enjoy 'Poison'.

Any favourite tracks?

The Prodigy did help me get into electronic music. I think at least two of their tracks were on the Hackers soundtrack. One of them was Voodoo People. I remember liking that a lot around 1997. But it hasn't stuck with me. My tastes have changed and I don't care for the Prodigy now except in a nostalgic kind of way.

from jilted?

I like full throttle, voodoo people, the heat the energy. I think they're my favourites off the album.

Other favourite prodigy tracks - charly, everybody in the place (both single and album versions), wind it up, weather experience, narayana, spitfire.

and the new one sounds very good too.

I've been a Prodigy fan since 1991 and I do agree that their new album has some similarities to their older material, however I would disagree that their older music is sounding dated.

I've been DJing in bars and clubs for some time and have always found that dropping tunes such as "Out Of Space", "No Good (Start The Dance)" and "Your Love" go down a treat.

I'd rather call them classics and I guess in time the new material will also achieve the same status.

In terms of favourite tracks, its almost impossible to say but I'm really loving "Rhythm Of Life" on the B side of "One Love" at the moment!

Yes their early records are considered classics. But I disagree that their recent work will ever be considered so. They're not at the forefront of the (or a) scene now. But it is hard to have perspective on the present. That's why I've always detested the term "instant classic".
