I am trying to figure out the chords for a song. I can do it by ear.....but I also have the guitar tabs for it and am wondering if they can be of any help to me. Do tabs give you any clues as to the chords in the song.....I'm not a guitar player, if you can't tell. lol!

Most "tab" sites I have seen have the chord name along with the little string and fret position diagram. IMHO your best bet is to get a good chord book, and learn the chords to a song that way... and learn ALL THE VARIATIONS of a certain chord. This will make you a better player. It can also help you learn to read music which will give you a leg up on most peeps who "play" guitar.
Good luck, and learn your licks well!

Maybe try a site like Ultimate-Guitar.com (
http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/) - most of the time you get the tab version as well as a chord version worked out by someone. Might be worth a look.

Tabs can be chords or actual single notes. ultimate-guitar.com is the best website for that. They classify songs by chords or just regular tabs with regular single notes.

Thanks Mike! I only play single note tabs or try to....lol....I'm not very good with complex four finger chords.

They're really simple. I could point you to a few lessons, or e-books that help with the teaching of chords. It's definitely a fundamental of guitar skill you should learn. Plus it makes good for camp fire songs too

Thanks Mike! That would be great! I also got a lot of help from Gater!...my main problem is frustration with no patience and also not enough time!
