i havent seen john Butler since he made it 'big'...i used to go down to Fremantle on sundays(probably once a month) many years ago where John was busking on the street, thought he had talent back then...Butler was raised in a semi-rural town called Pinjarra,just several miles from where i currently am, he is actually US born, he father was a diplomat for the US Govt back in the day, he retired in Perth, didnt want his son being bought up in a 'gun crazed' land...LMAO!
Powderfinger....are big Neil Young fans, they got their name from the Crazy Horse song 'powderfinger', they come from Perth also
im not really that familliar with Jeff Lang????, Xavier Rudd...only know a few tracks,again,dont own anything...
go and seek out Tame Impala, Birds Of Tokyo
(both from right here in perth) and Boy & Bear...who are other great aussie artists IMO, if you like 'heavy rock' also try Wolfmother
Tame Impala are infused with psychadelia, Birds are alternative, and Bear are folky/pop
