Yeah, Beach... You have to take things with a grain of salt, especially with more obscure artists, I think. Or perhaps even less with obscure artists, due to their lack of press coverage. Who can really say?
Just checked out Kilimanjaro Jazz - http://www.kilimanjarojazz.net/ and, while they are supremely competent musicians all, even when doing something such as Cantaloupe Island I find them very much 'supper club', or 'elevator' music orientated.
Probably has something to do with the overuse of Synth in a four-piece outfit. :frown:

Ah, I think I confused you. I was actually referring to (just checked) the Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble. They're more of a dark ambient sort of thing.

At least their music seems fairly accessible and that's very important in my own personal opinion.

"Music For Han Bennink (First Take)" - Peter Brotzmann
Wow! This is the most aggressive jazz I've ever heard. It's so amazing. Great stuff for those who are willing to dip their hands into "free jazz."

Sun Ra - The Heliocentric Worlds Of Sun Ra
I've never had any real affinity with jazz and apparently this is what this is - but I really enjoyed it. To me it just sounded like some sort of modern classical music.
- quite enthused about it ...mmmm.....

"Other Words" - Sun Ra, from the same album as above. There is definitely a classical element to it... The same goes for a lot of Anthony Braxton's stuff that I've heard.
