I was wondering what everyone's opinion on Billie Joe Armstrong was, good vocalist, bad vocalist?
Good guitar player, bad guitar player?

I think BJ is a very good vocalist. As for guitar playing I think it's adequate for what he does ( three power chords). I can't call any successful artist a "bad" anything ! I like the band's enthusiasm especially on live records and DVDs !!!!!
Kudos to Billie Joe for seeking rehabilitaion !

I dislike everything of that band.
Compositions are so 'mainstream', definitely Billie isn't a good guitarist. His vocal is not too bad. Lyrics are quite petty. Not my cup of tea.

What do you mean by Green day is "mainstream"?

I think he means that the band appeals to a mass audience, the music is straight ahead punky rock with memorable singalong melodies !
I can't dwell on metal, underground and avant garde too much because there is much more music whether it be pop, folk, country, jazz etc. to explore! It all comes down to personal taste and I don't care what genre the music comes from! If I dig it I dig it! I am currently listening to Bob Dylan's Christmas album and it's great !
