Arabic influenced desert rock
#1
I wanna recommend the Norwegian band 'Ørkenkjøtt' to all who are into rock/metal and is looking for a new original musical experience! The band released their full-lenght album, produced by the widely known metal guru Ihsahn (Emperor, Peccatum).

The feel is a combination between experimental metal with a rock approach and lot's of oriental/arabic influences.

But listen for yourself either on Spotify: Ørkenkjøtt or search on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yOQ2P0kvtc0 Smile

I promise you will find the music has a high quality and at the same time you will hear something you have never heard before!

Good questions, J! I only listened to it on a stream and didn't really bother with the video...I normally don't unless it's recommended like your video of Toto - Africa with the awesome acapella choir or your recco of Sting's version of Little Wing....worth watching for sure!!!!

Thanks for the welcome! Smile Yes, I am ofcourse very familiar with Opeth! I can recommend another norwegian progressive band wich is also really good, Leprous! Well my fav bands are like Meshuggah, Tool, A perfect Circle.. they are perhaps not that multi genre? I'm open for tips! I listen to alot of older progressive bands tho like Yes, Zeppelin, Camel, King Crimson etc etc. Smile

I think it's just a collection of clips from different concerts or something. Maybe not the best video, but I really liked the song :p

If you are into Arabic-influenced material, try Camel's 'Rajaz' album. Wonderful, melodic guitar work.

And Mike Batt has 2 albums that have Middle Easten influences. The soundtrack to the film 'Caravans' I rate 10/10. And then there's 'Schizophonia' which is partly Arabic influenced. 'The Ride to Agadir' is a classic. (8/10)
