What Are You Listening To?
Mike Oldfield - Hergest Ridge. Been a fan of the man since I first heard Tubular Bells on a beach in the Namib desert many, many moons ago. Naturally some additives were involved and I have never been the same since. However I have to say I find parts of this heavy going these days but it does have some beautiful interludes. A strange album and one created when he could not deal with the pressures of fame and retreated from the world. He eventually 'cured' himself with a course of Exegesis and this changed his outlook and the material he produced. Despite the enormous success of Tubular Bells, 'The Songs of Distant Earth' I still feel is his best work to date.

And in the same vein - from the album 'Rajaz' (The Rhythmn of the Camel) - love this track - http://youtu.be/EjjMBPibJnk
The tone he gets out of that guitar is just amazing.

LOU REED "street hassle" cd,1978.

my second Lou album in a week....
it aint a patch on the other one IMO, and thats the problem i have with his music/albums, very little consistancy, when he is good,he's good, but when he's bad, he's terrible IMO.
this one aint too bad, but neither is it great with me liking five of the eight tracks, but nothing i love on it...
still sticking to his tried and true formula of what i term 'gutter songs'(hell, did i just invent a new genre again?), yep, all his material seems to come from the shady side of town, i guess that if i cant relate to it, then i simply just dont 'get it'...
i guess others do though as from the reviews i have read about this one its apparently up there with 'transformer', even allmusic rate it a pretty good converted 2.4, but not me.

I DONT LIKE THIS ALBUM

I bought this some time ago and haven't played it in a while so I dug it out today and it was great to hear some earthy music inbetween all the other electronic stuff I listen to. My favourite http://youtu.be/oSuhByb5L1w

JIMI HENDRIX "experience hendrix:the best of jimi hendrix" cd,2010

yeh yeh...i have always said i dont like Hendrix, but i still own this best of set.
50% i like, 20% i love and 30% i dislike...but somehow, still not enough to make me want to go out and get his studio albums...
and surprisingly, i actually like the only instrumental on here...Star Spangled Banner...some nice guitar work IMO.
All Along The Watchtower...its okay, can live without it,much prefer the original Dylan version and U2's late 1980s one.
four on here i love, and they are not usually played on the radio, with The Wind Cries Mary as my favourite Hendrix track ever.
all up, some pretty good sounds on here with some very good fret-work by Hendrix.
