What classical music did you listen today?
#1
Have you been listening to any classical music today? If so, what was it, who wrote it, who performed it, and what were your thoughts about it? You may list as many works as you like, and any details you like.

Welcome aboard MD, Marinaa ! Are you a classical music buff ? What other music do you like ?

I listened to Bach's Goldberg Variations by the great Canadian pianist Glenn Gould !!!! ...fascinating music...so many notes...and played at such a rapid pace at times....true genius by the composer and the artist.

I try to listen to all kinds of music as I find something exciting in every genre! Marinaa, tell me something....is there a considerable amount of improvisation in classical music? or is it note for note as originally composed?...just a question that always intrigued me...I've heard someone mention improvisation in classical music ?????

Two fabulous operas by the Russian composer Mikhail Glinka.

A Life for the Tsar (1836)
and Ruslan and Lyudmila (1842).

Whenever I listen to opera I am truly astounded by the magnificent singing and the musical composition overall !!!!!!

I've been listening to a lot of Requiem by Mozart, I would not consider myself a classical music huff by any scheme, but that does not stop me from enjoying it often. I used to be heavilly involved in learning music theory, I have a soft spot for concertos and grouped pieces of music, for some reason Requiem always catches my ear.
