Glad that trilogy is over. Where are my classics? Seventeen year old Katniss leads the rebels and saves the country from the evil President Snow and takes care of his replacement too. And she finally settles on Peeta. I wanted Gale. All the bad people die and I'm sure only the good ones survived to start a new country. Greed is dead. Long live poverty.

next up - Lincoln by Nathaniel W. Stephenson

You've got to keep in mind it is in the Young Adult category. I thought it was great considering the trash they write for teenagers these days....

My copy is just titled Lincoln, and I'm thinking the pic may be of a reprint of that with a title change. My copy is dated the original printing of 1924 and you can tell, binding fell apart while reading. I've read many Lincoln bios and this is among the best. Quickly moves from his early years to his early involvement in politics and then to the presidential years. Most of it deals with the Civil War and decisions that were made to conquer the rebels. Many bad ones before the north prevailed. A lot of changing of generals before casting his lot with Grant. Only thing missing here is a southern perspective. Guess I'd have to got to a Davis or Lee bio to get that.

Different cover from mine, but sadly the contents are probably the same. I have a Kinky Friedman album which is ok, Lasso From El Paso. I should have passed on the book. Close to the writing style of the Don Imus book I read a while back. They are good friends, so not sure who's copying who. A lot of bad humor. Story line is a down and out musician who turns detective after his friends tell him he would be good at it. He's not. Dumbest part is the ending where he comes to from being knocked out by falling plaster to discover it was all a dream. The whole friggin book was a dream. Only wish my reading of it would have been a dream. Would have taken a lot less time.

Seem to recall a segment on NBC news when Brokaw was still there, that had this title. They must have stolen it from Senator Proxmire. One of those books that just piss you off when you realize all the waste of taxpayer money that takes place. And it's probably ten times worse since this was written. Just numerous details of spending that goes on. A lot of boring stats. Proxmire was oe of those that brought it to the publics attention. Too few of those people in Washington. It's all about the money folks.
