The first two albums by Chicago to me are a milestone in rock music .
(1)Transit Authority
This album broke new ground in Jazz/ rock/blues. the music was a mixture of urban blues and progressive rock ..with horn arrangements reminiscent of Stan Kenton.. but with a real rock groove.. and a very dischordant sound..(MAN I love this album)
I would love to form a band that sounds like Chicago did on these two albums..
(2) Chicago II
This album was Just Beautifull Music man
Colour my world makes me cry..

Weird things happen, I was just thinking about that first album just the other day, Rusty ! Man what a new fresh sound from THe Chicago Transit Authority and then Chicago !!!! A real eclectic mixture of sounds on the first album...hard rock (Tery Kath's acid guitar on Free Form Guitar), Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is ?....uptempo rock....Beginnings, Questions 67 and 68, and a superb cover version of I'm a Man !!!!...great album..we must be around the same age ???..lol
And of course the unforgettables - Make Me Smile, Colour My World and 25 or 6 to 4 !!!
The ultimate connection is between a performer and its' audience!

I've got 10 years on ya !....Believe me I'm not bragging ...lol..so I presume you were into music at a very young age of 7-10 or so ?...good for you as I didn't start seriously listening to music until I was 11 so it's about the same for us I guess.,, a decade apart to enjoy the fabulous music of the 70s !!!!!

Man, I wish you all the luck in the world with getting together a group like the old Chicago. I'd buy the album! IMHO, the first five Chicago albums are great. (That would be through the "wood cover" album.) The only caveat would be that their Live In Japan album is a bit more loose than Carenegie Hall collection, and much closer to what the band sounded like back in the days of Terry Kath, so I would add that disc to my list of great Chicago discs too. Starting with the 6th album, they started to lose me.

you guys might have sold me on getting some Chicago albums...
i believe there is a 5cd set in Corey's store containing
1.chicago transit authority
2.chicago
3.chicago v
4.chicago vi
5.chicago vii
so is that set worth the $20 asking price?

Another band that comes to mind is Blood, Sweat & Tears. 25 or 6 to 4 is awesome!

like most bands, the earliest are the best,
not sure why they would skip II,III,IV, all good
