U2 Best Album Poll - 1 of 1

Hard to pick one, but it would definitely be The Joshua Tree. The music is timeliness and is the sound track for a road trip to Disney World where I had the most fun ever. We played the cassette until it nearly burned up! Smile

The Joshua Tree all the way, followed by The Unforgettable Fire.

They put out some great albums. If you get around to listening.....let us know what you think!

War. Just because it's classic U2.

Boy. Their first and best. Joshua Tree is okay but it's where they began to sell out to pop. I can never forgive bands who do that.

It's Achtung Baby and then Joshua Tree. As a band all their early work is fairly solid however, I really think from the beginning they were a band who were always searching for who they were yet this search was always at war with another fight for who they wanted to be. This always turned me off from them. I think this is fairly documented on Rattle and Hum and became super evident over the tours encasing Achung through Zooropa, at which point dressing up in costumes and wearing make-up took importance over the music. A fairy boring, sonically dead band with a singer who is the rock version of Bozo the clown came soon after.

pop is sooooo underrated !

U2 are not the kind of band for whom I would want to own a whole heap of albums. I only have The Unforgettable Fire, which therefore got my vote.

I know The Joshua Tree will win, but I thought with this album they lost a bit of their interesting edge (pun intended). To a certain extent that returned with Achtung baby, and that would be my second choice. After Zooropa I somewhat lost interest. This was touted as U2 reinventing themselves. I'm not saying a band should not reinvent itself, but they did so in a very strange way and not one that appealed much to me.

There is probably at least one gem on every album. Even Zooropa has "Lemon".
