Had not read anything by Mr. Lewis before that I recall. First U.S. author to win the Nobel Prize, in 1930. Looking at his works, the only thing I recognize is Elmer Gantry. This one was very good. Set at the turn of the century, the story of a big city (Mineapolis) young woman who meets a small town doctor and gets hitched, only to discover she doesn't much care for small town life. Spends most of her time trying to change the town and the people in it. They don't take to that too well. After years of trying she hangs it up and leaves her hubby to go to D.C. to join the womens libbers. She's not happy there either. All is well though, she returns to the small town with the realization that it is what it is. lol.

Not very interesting. Not because of the author's name. One of those rah-rah faith, country family books. Nothing wrong with that, I just don't need it. I already have those values. Most of us do. More like a self help book. Not much politics in it. She takes a few jabs at the left, but I guess most of that was got out of her system with her previous book, Going Rouge. This was just boring for the most part. A lot of excerpts from works of the founding fathers and other historical figures, then Sarah elaborating. Nothing really wrong with the book other than just nothing new.

Autobiog from Jewish Cockney self-made millionaire businessman (purveyor of bargain basement consumer electronics), former chairman of Tottenham Hotspur soccer club, UK equivalent to Donald Trump on our version of The Apprentice reality TV program, & now member of The House of Lords.
Love him or loathe him, he's a colourful character.
May I suggest he buy one piece of consumer electronics - an electric razor.....

This book has been gathering dust on my shelf for like 3 years now. Is it a good read?

If you read the reviews, it's a bit of a mixed bag.
I'm 100 pages in and it's so far so good...
Interesting idea for a novel.

I haven't been able to read for the last few months, but I think I want to begin reading up on world religion...don't know why, but lately I've had this unnatural drive to better understand all religions. I'm not a religious person, however!
