At this very moment I am listening to my own composition, but it is yet to be titled.

On the laptop.

Soundtrack to the Blaxploitation movie - which I don't think I've ever seen - released in 1971.

Definitely a soundtrack rather than some songs crow-barred into the film, and whilst it's decent enough music, and is impeccably played, is just shy of the grade, and won't make the Buy List

The main theme music needs no introduction, though...

AllMusic 4+/5 stars.

"JEFF WAYNE'S WAR OF THE WORLDS",cd.
used to have this on cd, somewhere, somehow, someplace i guess it got lost along the road of life???
thankfully Dani has it andfound it today to give both discs a spin...good sunday morning listening!
pretty much a musical adaptation of the H.G Wells classic sci-fi novel/movie which features dialogue courtesy of Richard Burton, music by Phil Lynott(thin lizzy), Julie Covington,David Essex and Justin Haywood(moody blues) amongst others.
i cant review this one by disecting/rating individual tracks as they have no life outside of the soundtrack....its one complete work as far as im concerned,
but I LOVE THIS ALBUM!

rating 2.4 to 3.0?!

ELVIS PRESLEY "girl happy-soundtrack" vinyl,1965.

i am too young to have the original vinyl of this, but i have the reissue from 1977....
this is the umpteenth soundtrack to his umpteenth movie, his second movie from 1965(three in all),
Elvis made 33 movies between 56 and 69...several were very good, most were no worse than the Jerry/Deano movies from the same period and some were just plain terrible but they really were a chance for fans worldwide to see Elvis perform...allbeit mediocre songs...Eddie Murphy once said that "Elvis was such a good singer that they used to let him sing his dialogue"...see link from his standup routine below(well worth watching,so funny!):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bojnqBFadz4
....which isnt far from the truth as most of his movie songs were just that...and hell!, the guy couldnt act for crap!
i actually like six of the twelve tracks here, but nothing good enough to stand alongside his great songs, "puppet on a string" is still a beautiful ballad and by far the best thing on this one followed by the title track and "do not disturb"....but seriously with song titles like "fort lauderdale chamber of commerce", "wolf call" and the abysmal hit "do the clam"....did you really expect anything else but crap!?!.
the album reached top 10 in US/AU, and the single "puppet on a string" reached a respectable and justifiably deserved top 10 placing in AU/UK and top 20 in the US...
just as a bit of trivia for anyone interested....back in the day Elvis was paid $1M US per movie...the first actor to do so, and not one of his movies failed to make moneyt at the box office...
"allmusic" rates this album 3/5(1.8), not sure where they got that score from as myself(a certified Elvis-ophile) do not like this album.

album rating: 1.5

Isn't Sakamoto incredible ! One of my favorites is A Day in New York , bossa nova/jazz album , he plays piano in a quintet !...he is so versatile, somewhat of a musical genius I'd say !

Virtually impossible to listen to all of his albums...I think he has over 80 at last count ! Esteemed MD member Jerome recommended him to me...MD is a great place for recommendations ! The members at MD are very knowledgeable !

So Glee's a musical. I can't stop listening to "Cough Syrup." Originally sung by Young the Giant, but covered by Blaine (Darren Criss). Love this song.

Well this should be quick. Only four vocal tracks on this soundtrack. The classic Knockin' On Heaven's Door leading
the way. No doubt bought this long after it came out, to complete the collection. It's Dylan. Some people will buy
anything. You can have the six instrumentals. Only other vocal tracks are what I guess are different takes of a
track called simply Billy. Included are Billy 1, Billy 4, and Billy 7. What I want to know is where are the takes
for Billy 2,3,5 and 6. I feel so cheated. I'm sure those would have been better than 1,4 and 7. Dylan should have
insisted. They probably showed up on some bootleg. Heaven's Door was a #12 hit here and a #14 in the U.K. with the
album at #16 and #29.

I DO NOT LIKE THIS ALBUM

Worst Track - Final Theme

Best Track - Knockin' On Heaven's Door

Mama, take this badge off of me
I can't use it anymore.
It's gettin' dark, too dark to see
I feel I'm knockin' on heaven's door.

Knock, knock, knockin' on heaven's door
Knock, knock, knockin' on heaven's door
Knock, knock, knockin' on heaven's door
Knock, knock, knockin' on heaven's door

Mama, put my guns in the ground
I can't shoot them anymore.
That long black cloud is comin' down
I feel I'm knockin' on heaven's door.

Knock, knock, knockin' on heaven's door
Knock, knock, knockin' on heaven's door
Knock, knock, knockin' on heaven's door
Knock, knock, knockin' on heaven's door
