I've posted about this one before. I honestly can't shut up about, it's as if everything I ever wanted has been given to me. There are no words that do this monumental album justice

ERNEST TUBB "the very best of ernest tubb" cd, 1997.

believe it or not i never purchased many cd's whilst on the Horse Head Tour of the US deep South with fellow partner in crime Musc-Head, but i did pick up several and this was one of the ones i did purchase...and did so at the Ernest Tubb Record Shop in Nashville,Tennessee one extremely hot day after we sauntered our way through a couple of bars/clubs inspecting local artists playing live.
i wasnt sure which one to buy as i had several in my hand, and on advice from MH i got this one.

anyway, this cd contains 24 of ET's biggest selling songs...and he had many a hit on the US country charts between 1935 and the end of the 1970s....
according to the liner notes in the cd he actually had inexess of 70 top 20 hits in the US including duets with Red Foley, Andrews Sisters, and my favourite female country singer Loretta Lynn.
other original songs here, covered by others that followed him include "goodnight irene", "i love you because", "blue christmas", "thanks a lot".
Ernest Tubb's music is best described as being traditional country/honky tonk....much the same a Hank williams Snr.
anyway, all up a very good album IMO, especially if you like "real country" music.

What a beautiful voice. Early compilation by Capitol of her country leaning material. Eight albums deep into her
career. Not sure which albums these were pulled from. Excellent remakes of saome classics including George Jones,
Kenny Rogers and Kenny Loggins. Best has to be her own hit of Snowbird from her second album, which became an
international best seller making #8 in the states. This album Hit #6 on the country and #32 on the pop charts. Only
thing that doesn't work here is the previous pop hit of Break My Mind. Can't remember who this was a hit for. Back
in the 60's I think. Although it may have been a country song, I prefer the rocker I remember. Must have been a one
hit wonder. Anne would go on to have many more hits after this album, but this would sum up her early years pretty
well.
