THE SMALL FACES "the small faces" 1966,cd.
within the UK, The Small Faces are known for a dozen top 10 hit singles, outside the UK they are really only known for "itchycoo park", which isnt representative of their overall collection. sure they delved into psychadelia(who didnt in in the latter half of the 60s), but they were more than that, had they had a producer with the foresight and willingness to experiment in the studio like George Martin then i believe they would have been as revolutionary as The Beatles....just got to listen to their sublime "ogdens nut gone flake" album to see what visions they envisioned, but alas, they split before their ideas could develop further.
anyway, this album is their debut set from 1966, it reached #3 in the UK charts and remained in the charts for almost a year. no singles were released from this album, instead they released several stand alone singles during the same period.
this album is a testament to the quality of the Marriott/Laine songwriting partnership.

Neil Young - Prairie Wind - very evocative cover - there's something about the image of a woman hanging washing on the line in the breeze that is well.....hmmmmmm how do I say this.
Better pass on this one methinks!

I agree with you totally , Jerome !!!!!!!...not a dull moment from start to finish and still sounds to me like it was released yesterday instead of nearly 40 years ago when I first heard it !!!! I loved it after the first time I heard it and still think it's possibly my all time favorite album even today !!!!

CREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL "creedence clearwater revival",cd, 2008(from the seven studio album boxset)
this is the debut set by the Fogerty Brothers and Co, and possibly the worst of their seven albums, that doesnt mean it is a bad album but it only just makes the "like" rating for me,
very little here to shout about...nothing great, but also nothing bad, just a steady album of OK tracks in which CCR are obviously still finding their feet and musical direction. i think that this is not as good as any of John's solo albums thus so far, so it is not a good starting point to investigate the legend that has become CCR.
i can only recommend getting this one to complete your CCR collection or as part of the CCR 7 studio album boxset(which is probably the best value).
