First proper thread, wondering what anyone thinks of this guy, I personally love his stuff.
For anyone who doesn't know, Assemblage 23 is the stage name of Tom Shear, he's released 5 (or maybe 6) albums under the name and is in my mind a musical genious.

Just added him to my last.fm list.........so 'musical genius' then, that certainly sounds promising - we shall see!

I don't care for him. I find most of that industrial-dance, EBM, or whatever you want to call it campy. And not in a good way.

I agree. I hate the EBM genre... I think it's really put a stain on the name of the older industrial bands.

From my very brief listening - seems too 'serious' to be pop and too 'pop' to be serious - didn't instantly appeal I must say but who knows.
Also - I again have had to look up wikipedia for a genre I had never heard of - EBM - just think I have been listening to Kraftwerk for years and never knew this!

You may like EBM. In my opinion you haven't missed out on much. Kraftwerk was/is not EBM although they probably influenced it, as they did most current electronic music.
