Beethoven and Mozart aren't playing notes any more either - does it mean we don't appreciate their music? And there are a number of albums that are good without (or by) Roger Waters. Radio KAOS, Amused to Death, Ca Ira, About Face, Broken China & The Division Bell. By the way Trace you have it right - WYWH is the best one. I'm not a fan of The Wall but I have to admit as a piece of rock theatre it's phenomenal, but it's not something I would play often. By the way, there's a very interesting article in the latest Sound On Sound magazine about the technicalities of staging The Wall. It's expected to gross 200 million by the end of the tour. Not bad for a disgruntled pensioner! Which leads me back to this first point. It would seem that they are still playing notes after all! And the release of the new DSOTM Immersion/Discovery sets are going to push this album into the realm of 1000 weeks on the billboard charts. Please show me one other band in the world that has done that. When it comes to music there is one yardstick used to determine whether an album or work is really good or not and that is the test of time. Beyonce and Co. have an awful lot to learn........

Pink Floyd actually made a lot of crappy music too, you know. I've heard Division Bell on a few occasions, and all I can remember is a really annoying bell sound that makes you want to change to a different record. It's kinda head-splitting actually. The early stuff is not very good either.

Oh I agree to a certain extent - I can't stand early PF - it's complete junk. 1971 onwards is where they really take off. I have scant regard for the Grammys and all awards shows because I think it's all contrived, but Andy Jackson did get an award for the best engineered album - you guessed it - The Division Bell! I don't have a problem with you not liking them - that's OK - there are many popular bands that I do not like so what's good for the goose is good for the gander. But time will tell - it always does. Just as a sideline check out AJ's site - Tube Mastering - quite an education.

I actually dig some of Pink Floyd's stuff, I just have to rebel against the idolizing of them that's so commonplace. Sorry for sour remarks anyway. Gonna stop now. :tape2:
