Dire Straits - Love Over Gold. Mr Knopfer's guitar work on this is outstanding but I think Alan Clark's piano and keyboard contributions are in a league of their own here. My favourite of theirs.

My favourite of theirs. i agree Jerome that Love Over Gold is their best but "making movies" comes pretty darn close to it...then there is "brothers in arms"...what a classy trilogy of albums!

![]() John's fifth solo studio album, i dont have "centrefield" but of the four solo outings i have i rate this one the best. this was also John's first album on the fantasy/concord label since the demise of CCR back in the early 1970s and it came at a time when he was starting to play his old back catalogue live again...not sure if playing these old songs live again had anything to do with it but this one sure has a CCR feel to the songs. i dont mind him revisiting his old sounds especially since he does it well and this album stands up well against those 'classic' late 60s, early 70s albums. a great bluesy/country/heartland rock album filled with songs of recapturing the past 'good old days' with a couple of political rants thrown in the mix. I LOVE THIS ALBUM tracks: 1. dont you wish it was true *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=huyLwVFy6h0 live 2. gunslinger *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oZ_lKjzAOlM live 3. creedence song ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_rMYZLtE...re=related live 4. broken down cowboy ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L0YnKZ0hnGA live 5. river is waiting ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jvecKQyktqw audio 6. long dark night *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=meQVh6Yikpo live 7. summer of love ** 8. natural thing *** 9. it aint right ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJRJvrp2lMg audio 10.i cant take it no more ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6i4NYn6wtHs live 11.somebody help me *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Iz7kWbNT0o live 12.longshot *** 3s=6 2s=6 1s=0 rating: 2.5

To be followed by something more palatable. ELP's 'Black Moon'. Wish they would release another new work.

And to bring the evening to a close it is going to be the ultra-chillout 'Angels in the Architecture' A kind of new age collection of different musicians.

![]() JOHN FOGERTY "centrefield" seems im listening to a lot of Fogerty's solo material at the moment and this is anothr blinder from the CCR frontman. can this guy do no wrong? is he does i havent heard it yet! this is Fogerty taking the CCR sound into the 1980s,five brilliant tracks on this on and four very good tracks IMO on this nine track disc from a very underrated and relatively forgotten master of rock songwriting. not much else to say other than i guess you either like what he does or you dont...and i do!
