1972 release from German experimental band.
The mutant Funk on this album foreshadow it's use by the likes of Bowie, Eno, & Talking Heads some years later, but it's melded with some dreamy Psychedelia (where the dreams aren't always pleasant).
I find Japanese vocalist Damo Suzuki difficult to decipher at times, so the vocals take a bit of a back seat, whilst the drumming of Jaki Leibezeit is fascinating.
Not easy listening at times, but this is a fairly approachable Can album.
AllMusic 5/5 stars.

Live solo album from 1979 by former Gong guitarist Hillage and his band.
I first heard this over 30 years ago, and it has a special place in my heart. Hippie Progressive Rock, where the songs act as a framework for some extended Space-Jams. The section during their cover of Donovan's
Hurdy Gurdy Man, where the band switch into overdrive, and Hillage delivers some stinging hi-speed guitar still gives me goosebumps...
Great album, but probably not for everyone.
AllMusic 3+/5 stars.

My daily ritual of listening to something by the lads.
George once said that Rubber Soul (1965) and Revolver (1966) could have been easily released as one double album. In the past few years I have notice that these two albums have skyrocketed in popularity, reaching the Top 10 of Best Album polls !

Another one prompted by SteveO's recent Bowie posts...
Bowie's big breakthrough, from 1972.
Bowie and his band actually lived this one out. Without the money to afford them, the band started turning up to gigs in limousines, and generally behaving like Rock superstars. The trick worked, and the hype built, and Bowie would eventually break up the band with an announcement from the stage.
The attention to detail on this album is astonishing. Little touches of subtle instrumentation are all over the album, and not a note seems out of place. One of that rare breed of near-perfect albums...
AllMusic 5/5 stars.

Isn't it a fabulous intro, Tiggi - slow drums from Mick Woodmansey starting off Five Years !
and Rick Wakeman on keyboards ... the album could never miss ! The only thing that bugs me a little is the civer of Ray Davie's It Ain't Easy ...sort of doesn't fit ????
