DOKKEN "back for the attack" 1987,vinyl #13 US, #96 UK.
why the hell did i buy this piece of crap?...oh yeh, i remember....because i was an avid fan of the "nightmare on elm street" series of movies and the track "dream warriors" was the theme song to the third installment of the series. so i probably bought it to "p off" everyone around me whilst in the Navy, unfortunately for me, they all liked it and i didnt...and i still dont like it, the album not the movies.
this album reminds me now just why i dont like the "glam metal" from the 1980's ie:poison, aerosmith, bon jovi, quiet riot etc...
i like the music on this one just not the lyrics of most of the vocals
I DO NOT LIKE THIS ALBUM

Asylum by Disturbed ♪
Absolutely love them; they were my first metal band. And man, can David Draiman's voice mix with Disturbed's particular genre of music. He has a smooth, velvet voice in some of their songs, and it flows elegantly with some of their "softer" songs, I suppose you could call it. And then all of a sudden his voice can vanish and return as gruff and fearsome. The man truly has a gift. And they don't sound too bad live, either.

GUNS N ROSES "appetite for destruction" 1988,cd. #1 US, #5 UK, #7 AU.
debut set from Axl,Slash and Co...and it rocks with the same balls as AC/DC,Aerosmith etc, and the same rock attitude of Keith Richards.
full of heavy blues/metal tracks about booze, drugs, fast cars and loose women...everything real rock 'n' roll is about, and Axl means every word he spits out about these subjects....i guess when you walk the walk like Axl, then you can talk the talk!
on the flipside thogh, Axl has the ability to show insecurity and fear as he does in the classic rock ballad "sweet child o mine".
five of the tracks here(#'s 1,2,3,6 & 9) were worldwide hits.
its unfortunate that huge 'egos' got in the way and destroyed this band prematurely, but thankfully there are several of rock's great albums courtesy of the Gunners...long live rock!
I LOVE THIS ALBUM

Classic album - one of a kind. But it does not fit in this category at all.

AC/DC "back in black" 1980, vinyl,cd.
i needed something to change the pace from Crowded House/Split Enz for a while, and what better way than a good solid dose of heavy blues based rock n roll with AC/DC!
and this album does just that, pretty sure this one could start your heart pumping againg after Cardiac Arrest!!
it's the boys first album after the death of Bon Scott...i was never much of a Bon fan myself and IMO this is their masterpiece from the first sounds of ringing bells on the opening track to the final track this one does not let you up for air.
its about as good as this sort of music gets...great riffs, solos, lyrics, energy...its got the works, this is the summit of rock for me, only their latest album "black ice" comes close to this one IMO as a great AC/DC album.

Their best work by far - (previous post) - but the best song is still 'A Whole Lotta Rosie'.
